2025-08-05

To address employees’ challenges in childcare and education during summer breaks while demonstrating corporate care and improving the work environment, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. ("CIMC SOE") partnered with the Working Committee on Caring for the Next Generation, Women’s Federation, Youth League Committee, and Trade Union of Yinyang Town to host the eight-day "Ocean Nurtures Young Hearts" summer charity program from July 22 to August 1. The program provided free, high-quality childcare and educational services for children of both regular and contract workers.

Over 20 elementary school-aged children participated in the program. Guided by a thoughtfully designed curriculum and professional instructors, the children embarked on a summer journey integrating knowledge acquisition, skill development, and emotional enrichment.

On the morning of July 22, the program commenced at CIMC SOE’s Party-building activity room. Through self-introductions and election speeches facilitated by teachers, the children selected class leaders and committee members. This activity not only fostered camaraderie and a positive classroom atmosphere but also honed their communication skills, sense of responsibility, and teamwork spirit.

Diverse Curriculum for Foundational and Exploratory Learning

Certified teachers and university volunteers delivered subject-based tutoring and enrichment in Chinese (reading discussions, creative writing), mathematics (fun calculations, logical puzzles, Sudoku), and English (situational dialogues, nursery rhymes), supplemented by summer homework guidance.

Retired teachers led patriotic film screenings and "red culture" storytelling sessions to cultivate national pride and historical awareness. Professionals from judicial and traffic police departments conducted interactive workshops on legal education and road safety through Q&A games.

Experiential Learning Beyond the Classroom

Children participated in field visits to: Haijianghui Traditional Culture Gallery to appreciate heritage arts, Lishengyuan Ecological Farm for nature immersion and farming activities, Fire stations to learn safety protocols, Hands-on workshops on intangible cultural heritage rubbing crafts and traditional pastry-making.

Holistic Development for Potential and Well-being

University volunteers facilitated fun science experiments and tech projects to ignite curiosity. Music appreciation classes nurtured artistic sensitivity.

Licensed counselors conducted stress tests, emotion management courses, art doodling, and meditation exercises to foster resilience and interpersonal skills.

Parent Workshops for Collaborative Nurturing

Special sessions equipped parents with child development knowledge and communication strategies, promoting home-school-community synergy.

Comprehensive Safety Measures

Organizers implemented rigorous protocols: daily health checks with records, facility inspections, avoidance of high-temperature periods for outdoor activities, and detailed emergency plans. "Five-Veteran" volunteers (retired cadres, experts, teachers, model workers, soldiers) served as class supervisors, with rotating staff from all partner organizations ensuring safety.

On August 1, a warm closing ceremony featured highlights reels, talent shows, and awards for outstanding participants. Many children expressed joy in gaining new friends and skills.

This initiative reflects CIMC SOE’s commitment to social responsibility and employee welfare. Through government-enterprise collaboration and resource sharing, it alleviated employees’ childcare concerns while establishing an innovative care system. The program embodies the company’s people-centered philosophy and enhances employee belonging, injecting new vitality into harmonious labor relations.
