On July 31, the third SPP40 platform supply vessel (Hull No. S1097) built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. ("CIMC SOE") successfully achieved its keel-laying milestone. The event was witnessed by project team members including Zhao Zhongwu, Owner’s Representative of SPEC; Di Hongyu, Site Manager of BV; Xia Jiangping from the supervision team; Liu Xueyue, Project Director for Wind Power Service Vessels at CIMC SOE; Yan Kai, Deputy Director of the Shipbuilding Project Management Department; and other project stakeholders.

This series of multi-functional platform supply vessels measures 81.75 meters in length, 17.40 meters in width, and 7.8 meters in depth, with a design draft of 6.3 meters and a deadweight of 4,000 tonnes. Classified by Bureau Veritas (BV), the vessels feature a diesel-electric hybrid system equipped with 2 tunnel bow thrusters and 2 azimuth thrusters. Capabilities include unmanned machinery space (UMS) certification, 7-day zero-emission operation (battery-powered), DP-2 dynamic positioning, FiFi Class 1 firefighting, oil spill recovery capacity, and Comfort Class 3 (vibration/noise standards). The 800m² deck transports methanol, freshwater, fuel, cement, mud, drill water, and deck cargo.

The first vessel in this series was launched in early July. The successful keel-laying of S1097, as the third vessel, demonstrates CIMC SOE’s robust project management and engineering execution capabilities, confirming the project’s steady progress according to schedule.

This milestone marks the project’s transition into a new construction phase. CIMC SOE will collaborate with the shipowner, classification society, and partners to implement scientifically organized and meticulously executed construction, ensuring efficient advancement through subsequent milestones and on-time, high-quality vessel delivery.
