CIMC SOE achieved new progress across multiple projects
2026-10-15

Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CIMC SOE") has marked important construction progress on multiple projects: the steel cutting of an 1,800 TEU container vessel, the launching of a 20,000m³ LNG bunker vessel, the steel cutting of an 18,900m³ LNG bunker vessel, and the keel laying of a 20,000m³ LNG bunker vessel. From container vessels to LNG bunker vessels, and from steel cutting and launching to keel laying, these consecutive milestones demonstrate the company's strong capabilities in parallel construction and series delivery across multiple vessel types.

1,800 TEU Container Vessel S1162 Commences Construction

On October 9, CIMC SOE officially commenced construction on the first 1,800 TEU container vessel (Project No.: S1162) for Greek shipowner Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd. (hereinafter "Danaos"). The event was witnessed by Panos Vlachos, Project Engineer of Danaos, and the CIMC SOE project team.

Danaos, headquartered in Athens, Greece, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and ranks among the world's largest independent container vessel owners by fleet size.

S1162 is the first of six 1,800 TEU container vessels ordered by Danaos, with delivery scheduled for 2027. The 1,800 TEU container vessel is a typical feeder type, and demand for this vessel type continues to rise in the global feeder shipping market due to its flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability to small and medium-sized ports.

20,000m³ LNG Bunkering Vessel S1124 Launched

On October 12, the 20,000m³ LNG bunker vessel (Project No.: S1124) built by CIMC SOE for Avenir LNG Limited was successfully launched. The event was witnessed by Dirk Holman, Director of Newbuilding and Technology at shipowner Stolt-Nielsen; Ber Eeltink, Senior Project Manager of Avenir LNG; Tom Shelton, Technical Lead; Anders Seljevoll, Site Manager; Ge Yilong, DNV Nantong Station Manager; Tae Hyung Kim, DNV Gas Expert; Huang Lingbo, Safety Director of CIMC SOE; Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Business Division; and members of the project team.

Founded in 2017, Avenir LNG focuses on small and medium-sized LNG transportation and LNG bunkering. Following the steel cutting of the sister vessel S1123 in July this year, the successful launching of S1124 marks another important milestone in the series project between the two parties and further deepens their cooperation in the clean energy equipment sector.

18,900m³ LNG Bunkering Vessel S1152 Commences Construction

On October 13, CIMC SOE officially commenced construction on the 18,900m³ LNG bunker vessel (Project No.: S1152) for Singaporean shipowner Purus Marine (hereinafter "Purus"). The event was witnessed by Andriy Shalupenko, SMC Site Manager; Tae Hyung Kim, DNV Gas Expert; Li Hongguang, DNV Site Manager; Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of CIMC SOE's Shipbuilding Business Division; and members of the company's project team.

The series comprises three vessels, which will be chartered to Shell for its LNG bunkering operations at major hub ports worldwide.

The steel cutting of S1152 marks a further refinement of CIMC SOE's product lineup in the LNG bunker vessel sector, forming a range covering 12,000m³, 12,500m³, 18,900m³, and 20,000m³ specifications. It also reflects the company's continued commitment and competitiveness in the small and medium-sized liquefied gas carrier market.

20,000m³ LNG Bunker Vessel S1125 Keel Laid

On October 15, the 20,000m³ LNG bunker vessel (Project No.: S1125) built by CIMC SOE for Vitol International Shipping successfully completed its keel-laying milestone. The event was witnessed by Lu Fuyang, Deputy Project Manager of supervision company LIMA SHIPPING PTE LTD; KIM JAEHONG, Site Manager; Tae Hyung Kim, DNV Gas Expert; Liu Changting, Head of the Block Erection Department of CIMC SOE; Yan Kai, Deputy Director of the Shipbuilding Project Management Department; and members of the project team.

Keel laying is an important milestone in the shipbuilding process, marking the vessel's transition from block fabrication to berth erection and laying a solid foundation for subsequent equipment installation, system commissioning, and on-schedule delivery. The smooth progress of S1125 further validates the company's organizational capabilities in the series construction of 20,000m³ LNG bunker vessels.

With a thousand sails racing toward the deep blue, CIMC SOE forges ahead with solid action on a new journey. These consecutive key construction milestones are a vivid reflection of CIMC SOE's efficient construction and quality delivery, and strong proof of the company's deep commitment to the shipbuilding and offshore equipment sector and its continued expansion in the global market. Leveraging mature series construction technologies, an increasingly refined product portfolio, and rich international cooperation experience, the company continues to overcome key challenges in shipbuilding, steadily improve product quality, and empower the green and low-carbon transition of the shipping industry with strong capabilities.
