Two Vessels Delivered! CIMC SOE’s SPP40 platform supply vessel and 24,000m³ LEG carrier delivered and set sail in succession
2026-09-30

On September 28–29, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “CIMC SOE”) successively reached important delivery milestones—the SPP40 platform supply vessel (Project No.: S1098) built for CDB Financial Leasing and SPEC, and the 24,000-cubic-meter LEG carrier (Project No.: S1108) built for UK’s Petredec, were officially delivered and set sail. The consecutive delivery of these two vessel types once again demonstrates the company’s comprehensive construction strength in the offshore support vessel and clean energy vessel sectors.

SPP40 Platform Supply Vessel S1098 Successfully Delivered on September 28

S1098 is the fourth vessel in the SPP40 platform supply vessel series. It has an overall length of 81.75 meters, a beam of 17.40 meters, a depth of 7.8 meters, a design draft of 6.3 meters, and a deadweight of 4,000 tons. It is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV). The vessel adopts a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and is equipped with two tunnel-type bow thrusters and two azimuth thrusters. It features an unmanned engine room, seven-day zero-emission capability, DP2 dynamic positioning, FiFi 1 external fire-fighting capability, and oil spill recovery capability, with vibration and noise comfort rating reaching Class 3. Its 800-square-meter deck can flexibly transport various materials including methanol, fresh water, fuel oil, cement, mud, drilling water, and deck cargo. It is a multi-functional offshore engineering support vessel combining cutting-edge technology and practical functions.

The orderly advancement and on-schedule delivery of this series further deepened the collaborative development between CIMC SOE and partners such as CDB Financial Leasing and SPEC, and provided higher-quality equipment support for the global offshore engineering sector.

24,000m³ LEG Carrier S1108 Successfully Delivered on September 29

S1108 is the second 24,000-cubic-meter LEG carrier built by CIMC SOE for UK’s Petredec. It was independently developed and designed by the company and represents the technological forefront of the new generation of ethylene carriers. The vessel is classed by Bureau Veritas and adopts a Type C bi-lobe tank cargo containment structure, with stringent standards for the cargo containment system, cargo handling, and overall safety performance.

Through optimized hull lines and layout design, the vessel enhances effective cargo capacity while balancing operational efficiency and transport capability. In addition, supported by refined construction processes and an optimized vessel design, the vessel achieved excellent measured sailing performance, with actual speed one knot higher than the original design speed, further improving operational efficiency. In terms of the power system, the vessel is equipped with a high-performance main engine and innovatively integrates advanced environmental equipment such as a scrubber and a shaft generator. This significantly reduces pollutant emissions while effectively lowering greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption, fully aligning with the global shipping industry’s green, low-carbon, energy-saving, and high-efficiency development trend.

With outstanding comprehensive energy efficiency, stable and reliable operating performance, and prominent low-carbon and energy-saving advantages, the two 24,000m³ LEG carriers in this series have earned high recognition from the shipowner, who commented that they are the most energy-efficient vessel type in their current fleet. This fully confirms the company’s construction strength in high-end clean energy vessels.

Looking ahead, CIMC SOE will continue to uphold craftsmanship quality, refine construction technology, and strictly control project delivery. The company will continue to build more high-performance, green, and intelligent quality vessel products, continuously enhance its core competitiveness, and help the global shipping industry embark on a new journey toward low-carbon and sustainable development.
