Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CIMC SOE") has commenced construction on three vessels of different types for Capital Gas, Purus Marine, and SPEC, covering a 40,000m³ LPG/ammonia carrier, an 18,900m³ LNG bunkering vessel, and an SPP40 platform supply vessel. The project milestones highlight the company's diversified construction capabilities and efficient delivery performance in both gas carriers and offshore support vessels.
40,000m³ LPG/Ammonia Carrier Starts Construction
On July 10, CIMC SOE held the steel-cutting ceremony for the third 40,000m³ LPG/ammonia carrier (Hull No.: S1113) for Greek shipowner Capital Gas.
The event was witnessed by Huang Yuelong, the shipowner's site representative; Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of CIMC SOE's Shipbuilding Business Division; and members of the project team.
S1113 is the third of four sister ships in this series, and also the seventh 40,000m³ LPG/ammonia carrier undertaken by CIMC SOE. The vessel is equipped with three IMO Type A cargo tanks, capable of carrying LPG, ammonia, VCM, and other liquefied gases, offering flexible transport solutions. The first vessel in the series, S1111, is scheduled for keel laying next week, with the overall project progressing steadily according to plan.
First 18,900m³ LNG Bunker Vessel Starts Construction
On July 15, CIMC SOE held the steel-cutting ceremony for the first 18,900m³ LNG bunker vessel (Hull No.: S1151) for Purus Marine.
The ceremony was attended by Chris Cooper, Head of Newbuilding for Purus Marine; Tapan Sharma, SMC Project Manager; Andriy Shalupenko, SMC Site Manager; Ge Yi Long, DNV Nantong Station Manager; Tae Hyung KIM, DNV Gas Expert; and site team members; along with Chen Bin and the CIMC SOE project team.
Purus Marine has been expanding its presence in the liquefied gas carrier sector, having signed a contract with CIMC SOE last year for two 18,900m³ LNG bunker vessels. These vessels will be chartered to Shell to support its global LNG bunkering network. S1151 is the first of the series, independently designed by CIMC SOE with an overall length under 140 meters and equipped with two IMO Type C tanks. The commencement of this series will further optimize CIMC SOE's product portfolio and construction rhythm.
Fifth SPP40 Platform Supply Vessel Starts Construction
On July 17, CIMC SOE held the steel-cutting ceremony for the fifth SPP40 platform supply vessel (Hull No.: S1131) for SPEC at the Jinhai Base.
The event was witnessed by Xia Jiangping and Liu Hu, site managers from the supervision company; Tian Liang, SPEC site representative; Zhen Yongpeng, Assistant General Manager of CIMC SOE's Wind Power & Modules Division; and other project team members.
SPEC is a company focused on offshore engineering services. The SPP40 platform supply vessel is designed for material transport and supply to offshore oil platforms, with an overall length of 81.75 meters, a beam of 17.40 meters, a depth of 7.8 meters, a design draft of 6.3 meters, and a deadweight of 4,000 tons. It features strong cargo capacity and flexible maneuverability.
The consecutive start of these three vessels fully demonstrates CIMC SOE's efficient coordination in project management, resource allocation, and production organization. Moving forward, the company will continue to focus on the clean energy and offshore equipment market, applying lean management to every production link, and providing global clients with safer, greener, and smarter offshore solutions to support the green transformation and high-quality development of the shipping industry.
